DeKalb Superintendent Michael Thurmond is partnering with the Atlanta Families' Award for Excellence in Education (AFAEE) program. This is an exciting opportunity to acknowledge the teachers and administrators who are doing a phenomenal job every day for students. Recipients earn a $7500 award, which includes funding for a school project of their choice ($3500), funding for professional development ($1500) and a personal stipend ($2500).
Nominations can be submitted online frm November 7, 2014, through January 9, 2015, for DeKalb teachers and school leaders. The application deadline is February 13, 2015. To learn more about the Atlanta Families' Award for Excellence in Education program and to submit nominations, visit
